I am a certified life coach in spiritual wellness with a limited focus on mental health. I currently attend the University of Utah in my overall pursuit as a Pyschologist in Behavioral Psychology. My focus and interests are on spiritual/mental health, cognitive awareness, cult attributes and relationships. I am a former member of a “high demand” religion. Most importantly, I am a husband, a father, a secularist, a free-thinker, an ever-evolving altruist, an environmentalist, a quasi-spiritualist and a kid at heart.
I am a huge lover of history and philosophy. Love me some sports—particularly college football (Go Utes!) and soccer (Serie A- Juventus). I played football and soccer in high school and still enjoy playing soccer when I can. Now I mostly just enjoy coaching and watching my daughter play. I love to cook, I love to listen to music and am a boarderline unhealthy movie freak. I get made fun of for having such a huge Blu Ray collection, but regardless, I’m still pretty proud of it. 😉 I love the outdoors—camping and fishing are some of my favorite things to do.
I served in the Marine Corps as an infantryman and have served overseas in Afghanistan. I love to travel and to learn about different cultures. I have a deep rooted affinity for learning.
As mentioned above, I grew up being very involved in the religion of my birth. Due to life’s experiences, learning a little bit of religious history—mingled with psychology, I eventually developed a more secular mindset and paradigm shift in my personal philosophies. I emotionally checked out of religion almost four years ago and “came out” of the faithless closet over a year ago. It’s been an interesting ride with new experiences being had and new perspectives gained. Hopefully I am able to adequately share these things I’ve experienced and learn in an attempt to help others through the various stages of their personal, faith-changing journeys.
I have an amazing wife who, along with my amazing daughter, are my partners in crime for any adventure.
